Hotel is clean. Rooms are spacious and very well serviced. However, reception and restaurant staff are very unfriendly and unwelcoming. Meals are awful and unimaginative; cold cooked breakfasts swimming in grease. Dinner in the hotel restaurant is simply a buffet with no menu on offer; again cold and not up to the standard expected of a '4 star' hotel. Swimming pool is lovely and the gardens well maintained but there is a constant smell of cats. The resort comprises of half a dozen restaurants and a couple of ice cream parlours, most of which were closed at the time of our visit. The ones that were open did not serve any meals until after 9pm. Very little English is spoken in the resort and even less understood! An excellent place to stay if on any sort of diet! The most worrying thing about the hotel was that on our last night there, a fire broke out in the basement requiring the attendance of the local fire department. All power to the hotel was cut and emergency lights came on by the doorways, however, no fire alarm was raised. As this occurred at 4am in the morning, it was only the noise from the fire tender outside our window that woke us to the site and smells of acrid smoke pouring from the basement! At no time were we alerted, advised or reassured by any member of hotel staff as to the situation? To sum up................nice pool. Will not be visiting again or recommending to anyone.
