3 km from Arrecife and 15 km from the airport, in a peaceful area and only 500 m from the beach. Refurbished in 1995. Open all year. Ideal for families with children. The Barcelo Suites has been granted the Biosphere Award wich obliges a number of requirements such as responsability for the close environment of the hotel, the use of recycled paper, reduction in use of natural resources, selective refuse collection etc. to ensure the quality of the natural heritage of the island Lanzarote.

We stayed at this hotel 7-14 Dec and unfortunately the weather was not very good.
Upon arrival the hotel did not have the wow factor of a 4 star hotel compared to others that we visited. The hotel could suitably be described as tired in need of reburbishment. However the hotel was exceptionally clean.
The communal areas were spacious and the pool areas had plenty of sunbeds to lay on if the weather is good!
The bedrooms were very large but the patios doors were a bit dodgy! The bathrooms were very tired with cracked tiles grubby grouting and heavily stained bath, and over bath shower attachment hanging on to the wall for dear life!
Good points - the service and staff including animation team were efficient and friendly, entertainment not bad and food excellent. The hotel as we were aware before booking is about 2 miles away from the centre of Costa Teguise but hotel provides a courtesy bus. We had read reports on the Occidental Oasis before choosing the Barcelo of which one of the downsides of that one was the Desalination Plant - what a surprise we got when we saw that the Occidental Oasis is in front of the Barcelo! It looks a 4 star hotel the communal areas were fresher and superior to the Barcelo however I gather the food is not as good as the Barcelo.
Swings & roundabouts I guess.
A definite must is car hire - we hired for 2 days and having shopped around in Costa Teguise decided on the 5 euros extra to use the car hire just outside of the hotel. Having not visited Lanzarote before we changed our minds from Lanzagrotte to Lanzalovely and visited the North and South of the Island. The only grotty part we visited was Puerto del Carmen. We have done Lanzarote now and glad we did especially visiting Timanfaya and Jameos De Agua.
